There are many types of steroids, one of which is an injectable steroid. Injectable steroids are those that come in either liquid form or in powered form to be mixed with water before being injected into the muscle with a syringe.
Injectable steroids are man-made substances that are basically equivalents of the male sex hormones. Most often they are referred to as anabolic-androgenic steroids or just anabolic steroids, but however they are called they can be injectable steroids, topical creams or lotions or pills or tablets that are taken orally. These injectable steroids have two types of characteristics. One type of characteristic in an injectable steroid is its anabolic abilities. This refers to how well the injectable steroid can increase body mass. The other type of characteristic of injectable steroids refers to how it affects the masculine traits of the user. These are the androgenic characteristics of the injectable steroid.
The first noticeable use of injectable steroids was probably by the Soviet competitors at the 1954 World Weightlifting Championships in Austria. At this competition, the Soviet competitors rule the contests and other teams noticed paraphernalia related to injectable steroids such as syringes in the locker rooms.
Injectable steroids do have many benefits, including treatment for some medical issues such as chronic wasting and the building of muscle mass to improve appearance and athletic ability, but there are also many downsides to using injectable steroids. These side effects of injectable steroids include impotence, acne, infertility, premature baldness, gynocomastia (the appearance of female sex traits in men), virilization (the appearance of male sex traits in women). Also common of injectable steroids are the life-threatening effects such as liver and kidney damage, increased cholesterol levels and elevated blood pressure.
Another serious complication that goes along with injectable steroids is the fact that many people tend to share needles and this is one of the causes of the spread of the HIV virus.
